This particular Impala has been completely rotisserie restored, and as such, not a single nut, bolt, or clip, was ignored on this convertibleAnywhere! Meticulously restored over a period of nearly 20 years, by a man that worked throughout his life as a Civil Engineer, you can bet that this '58 Impala was without a doubt what would be termed as Over Restored.
That is to say that this Chevy is now better that it was when it rolled out of the Flint Michigan plant in 1958 when Chevrolet produced this One year only body style.
1958 being the first year for the Impala, this model would have been Chevrolet's Top of the Line offering, and as such, came with a nice array of options, and enough trim and bright work to build a Honda Civic! This Impala is beautiful, and amazing everywhere you look! The Silver Blue paint shines deeply, and contrasts perfectly with the blue canvas power convertible top.
Inside the ornate interior, there's so much to look at, you have to sit in the driver's seat for about 10 to 15 minutes to take it all in.
The bright work on and around the dash, such as the control knobs, and levers to operate your various accessories are beautiful.
The Wonderbar station-seeking tube radio looks and functions just as it would have during the Eisenhower administration.
And the original bench seating front and back provide a certain comfort lost on today's vehicles.
This Impala is equipped with an excellent starting and running 348 single 4 barrel engine with just enough updates to make the drive smoother, easier, and more reliable than ever.
And I should mention that I do have a Tri-power set up, and painted to match Continental kit shell that will accompany the car.
The luggage compartment on this Impala is spacious, and is finished with custom fabricated panels that surround the interior space.
Don't worry, as there is still room enough to carry the extensive restoration photo album, manuals, books, receipts, and literature collected for this convertible.
The undercarriage of this Impala is amazing, displaying all of the correct inspection paint dobs like it just left the factory, and every fastener, component, and clean metal has been addressed with the correct finish and plating.
A top of the line Chevrolet Impala convertible is certainly a desirable car in and of itself, but to find one that's had the obsessive-compulsive attention to detail throughout its painstaking, thoroughly researched frame-off rotisserie restoration is like finding a diamond on the beach.
Magnificent automobile!.
